Speech and language intervention in the classroom is of utmost importance, both for students' learning and for teachers. One of the objectives of the intervention is to stimulate communicative language skills in the different areas and levels of language of the students, to identify strengths and weaknesses in order to address and reinforce those skills that are more deficient, and to promote a collaborative work space between educator and speech therapist through planning, coordination and implementation of objectives and activities to work on.
One of the most relevant and significant objectives of speech therapy support in the classroom is to advise, teach and provide communicative tools to educators through various intervention strategies and facilitation techniques in order to put them into practice in their classes and daily activities, such as modelling techniques, prosodic emphasis, extension and expansion of utterances and reformulation. It is observed that the interventions are beneficial for the students, who are more participative and enthusiastic about the proposed activities, answering questions, resolving doubts, favouring more effective communication and greater social interaction with their peers, also strengthening their autonomy, security and self-confidence.
Speech and language support in the classroom plays a fundamental role in the development of children's communication and social skills and promotes collaborative work in order to coordinate and implement the best learning strategies for both students and teachers.
